Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Submission and evaluation of the manuscript

Manuscripts must be submitted via the Internet, exclusively on Revista's website (https://revpsico-unesp.org/index.php/revista/login). It is an essential condition that any and all submissions must be of unpublished material or under evaluation by another journal.

After the submission, the first evaluation will be carried out by the team made up of General Editor and Editing Assistants of the UNESP Psychology Journal, checking if the work followed the items listed in the Guidelines for Authors and Types of Contribution. Being approved at this stage, the manuscript will be forwarded for peer review preserving the identity of the authors and consultants (double-blind review). Ad hoc evaluators, who must point out the absence of conflict conflicts for the evaluation of the manuscripts.

The bias by the consultants contain justifications that may suggest approval for publication without changes, approval for publication with recommendations for changes or non-recommendation for publication.

The Editorial personnel will be responsible for making the final decision on the manuscript, including the need for further reformulations, while also reserving the right to make minor changes to the authors' text to speed up the editorial process. UNESP Psychology Journal does not charge a fee for submitting articles or evaluating them.

(ATTENTION: Considering the pandemic that imposes social isolation on us, the referral letter must include the name of the authors in order of authorship (first author, second author, etc.) and it is not necessary to include the signature)

Presentation of manuscripts

UNESP Psychology Journal adopts the publication standards of the American Psychological Association (APA).

After being adapted to the rules, the original texts must be submitted in a Word compatible text editor, in double space (in all parts of the manuscript), in Times New Roman font, size 12, not exceeding the number of words appropriate to the category in which the work is included, (excluding Abstract, References); The page settings should be A4, with the following margins: left 3.0 cm; other sides 2.0 cm, aligned to the left.

It is essential that the material does not contain any form of identification of the authorship, which includes references identified to previous works of the author (s) of the manuscript and their institutional links, as well as information contained in the fields of the document properties. We remove the authorship identification in the File Properties of your version of Word or another text editor. In your text editor's Help tool, look for “Properties” or “Inspect document” and follow the instructions to remove personal information from the document to ensure the blind review.

Any and all texts sent online to the Journal must be accompanied by a letter signed by all authors (model below), where the intention to submit or resubmit the work for publication is made explicit. This letter must also contain authorization for language reformulation, if necessary to meet the magazine's standards. All complementary documents must be attached by the electronic publishing system, in a Word file.

We forwarded to the UNESP Psychology Journal for appreciation and evaluation of the text entitled (text title) that is about (text category: for example, Research report, Essay, Experience report).

We require that:

The present work is unprecedented, original and strictly followed all ethical procedures.

The work is not submitted to another journal for publication.

The participation of authors in all stages of the present work

There is no conflict of interest of any kind.

We authorize the reformulation of language, if necessary to meet the standards of the Journal.

Preparation of manuscripts

The elements of the manuscript must be displayed in the following order:

 

  1. Cover page without identification of authorship:

 It is not counted in the total number of pages in the manuscript, but must be integrated into the file with the other elements of the text. It must contain the original Title (maximum of 14 words) and a compatible title in English Titles and subtitles must not contain final punctuation.

  1. Abstracts and keywords (in Portuguese and English):

It should contain abstracts in Portuguese and English, formatted in single paragraphs, containing a minimum of 100 and a maximum of 150 words each and preceded by the title Summary. Below each summary, list at least three and a maximum of five keywords (in lowercase and separated by semicolons). It is suggested to use keywords derived from Psychology Terminologies from BVSPsi or Psycinfo's Thesaurus. The UNESP Psychology Journal has the standard procedure of making the final review of Abstracts in a foreign language, reserving the right to correct them, if necessary.

  1. Text:

It should start on a new sheet, containing an organization marked by titles and subtitles. Do not use the terms apud, op. cit., id., ibidem and others (see APA Publication Manual, 6th Edition, 2010).

  1. Grades:

They should be avoided whenever possible. However, if there is no other possibility, they must be indicated in the text by superscript Arabic numerals and presented immediately after the body of the text.

  1. References:

Only the works mentioned in the text should appear in this section.

  1. Tables, Figures and Attachments.

They must be numbered, have title and captions, when necessary

  1. Acknowledgments and funding agency (s).

 Accompanied by the Process number and (or) Notice through which the support was obtained.

Checking submission guidelines

Failure in accomplish with any of the items is sufficient for the initial refusal, during the first evaluation stage, which is why we recommend authors to make a thorough review of their manuscripts before submission. We emphasize that manuscripts rejected twice for inadequacy to these items will not be received again.

Copyright

Texts submissions implies the immediate and free assignment of publication rights in UNESP Psychology Journal, which will have the exclusive right to publish them first hand. The author will, however, continue to own the copyright for subsequent publications. In the case of republication of articles in other vehicles, it is recommended to mention the first publication in UNESP Psychology Journal.

UNESP Psychology Journal provides free public access to all its content.
