Abstract

With the arrival of the Bubonic Plague in 1347 in Europe, and along with the urgency of the catastrophic scenario that occurred, treatises on the pestilence written by doctors and professors linked mainly to the main centers of medicine of the continent began to appear. Based on the case study provided by such medical treatises produced during the outbreaks of the Plague in the second half of the 14th century, we discuss the importance that this documentation had for the study of medieval medicine. For this, we present the general content proposed in these works in relation to the context of their production, with historiography and with various fields of knowledge to which they were linked, highlighting epistemic analysis.
