Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being considered for publication by another journal; otherwise, this must be justified in "Comments to the editor".
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, or RTF format.
  • URLs for the references were provided where possible.
  • The text is 1.5 spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics instead of underlining (except in URL addresses); figures and tables are inserted within the text, not at the end of the document as attachments.
  • The text follows the style guidelines and bibliographic requirements described in Author Guidelines, on the About the Journal page.

Author Guidelines

Guidelines for submitting papers

IMPORTANT: Papers that do not strictly adhere to the stipulated guidelines will not be considered for evaluation.

 

1 - The Miscelânea journal is a biannual publication of the Postgraduate Program in Letters at UNESP/Assis, whose objective is to disseminate scientific productions by researchers from national and international universities and research centers, within its specific area of ​​coverage. Original articles, interviews, and reviews are accepted for publication.

2 - Submitted material is reviewed by members of our Editorial and Advisory Boards, who may suggest structural and content modifications to the author. The author is entirely responsible for the content of the submitted material and the accuracy of the information, references, and concepts.

3 - Works by postgraduate students will only be accepted if co-authorship with a supervisor is established.

4 - Articles should be between 15 and 20 pages long, and reviews a maximum of 8 pages, respecting the following formatting in a Word file: Times New Roman font, size 12, 1.5 line spacing, justified alignment, left and right margins of 1.5 cm, top margin of 1.8 cm and bottom margin of 2.0 cm. Paragraphs should have a 1.5 cm indent. Subtitles and the indication of "Bibliographic References" should be in small caps. Reviews should deal with books published, or theses defended, in the last 2 years.

5 - Submissions must be made after prior registration with the journal. Authorship should not be indicated in the submitted file.

6 - Criteria for evaluation and selection of works:

Textual cohesion and coherence;

Correctness of language;

Mastery of the subject;

Depth of the subject;

Originality; Compliance with Publication Guidelines;

Author's Title.

7 - Articles should have the following structure:

7.1 - Pre-textual elements:

a) TITLE: on the first line, centered, bold. Font: Times New Roman, size 12, uppercase.

b) Title in English: one line below the title in Portuguese, centered, not bold, using capital letters only for the initial letters. For this item, as well as for the ABSTRACT and KEYWORDS in a foreign language, it is recommended to seek review by a specialist.

c) ABSTRACT: three lines below the author's name; in Portuguese, regardless of the language in which the text was written. Write the word ABSTRACT in uppercase and bold, size 11, followed by a colon. Write the text in a single paragraph, single-spaced, justified, between 5 and 10 lines. Font: Times New Roman, size 11, for the entire abstract.

d) KEYWORDS: 3 to 5 keywords, two lines below the abstract, in Portuguese, regardless of the language in which the text was written. Write the term KEYWORDS in uppercase and bold. Font: Times New Roman, size 11. Each keyword with the first letter capitalized and the rest in lowercase. Separate them with semicolons.

e) ABSTRACT AND KEYWORDS IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE (English, French, Spanish, or Italian): Follow the standards mentioned above.

Note: the text should be submitted without indicating authorship. The platform already associates the file with the author responsible for submission.

7.2 - Textual elements:

a) Font: Times New Roman, size 12, justified alignment throughout the text.

b) Spacing: 1.5.

c) Quotations: In the body of the text, quotations should be up to 3 lines long, enclosed in double quotation marks. Font: Times New Roman, size 12. When longer than 3 lines, they should be set off from the body of the text. Font: Times New Roman, size 11, single-spaced, with a 2 cm right indent. Note: Use [...] in case of omissions. All references to quotations or mentions of other texts (both those included in the body of the text and those that should appear in bold) should be indicated after the quotation with the following information in parentheses: author's last name in uppercase, comma, year of publication, page abbreviation, and page number. Example: (SILVA, 2010, p. 1-10). Avoid using idem or ibidem and Cf. When using apud, include the same information requested above for the author of the text from which the quotation was taken. Example: (SILVA, 2002, pp. 1-10 apud RAMOS, 2010, p. 23). Remember to include all data from both authors. In the References, include only the works directly consulted.

d) Explanatory notes: if necessary, they should be placed as footnotes. Font: Times New Roman, size 10. Justified alignment, maintaining single spacing within and between notes.

 

e) Section titles and subtitles, if expressed in words, without Arabic numerals, including Introduction, Conclusion, and References, without paragraph indentation, in small caps (available in the Word "fonts" window), with only the first word of the section capitalized. If expressed only in numbers, include the number following the same rules as above, but without punctuation.

f) The opportunity and convenience of publishing illustrations will be evaluated by the editors.

Book Chapter: AUTHOR'S LAST NAME, First Name. Chapter Title. In: AUTHOR'S LAST NAME, First Name. Book Title: Subtitle, if any. Edition Number. City: Publisher, Year of Publication. Page Number or Range Used. - If the author is the same for both the book and the chapter: AUTHOR'S LAST NAME, First Name. Chapter Title. In: Title: Subtitle, if any. Edition Number. City: Publisher Name, Year of Publication. Page Number or Range Used.

Proceedings: AUTHOR'S LAST NAME, First Name. Article Title: Subtitle, if any. In: EVENT NAME, Event Edition Number, Year of Event, City of Event. Publication Type (Proceedings or Abstracts), City of Publication: Publishing Institution, Year of Publication. p. (initial page - final page of the article).

Internet: AUTHOR'S LAST NAME, First Name. Title: Subtitle, if any. Available at: . Accessed on: day, month (abbreviated to the third letter, except May) year.

Thesis: AUTHOR'S LAST NAME, First Name. Title: subtitle if any. Year of defense. Total number of pages. Thesis (Doctorate in ......................) Faculty Name, University Name, city of the Institution, year.

Journal article: AUTHOR'S LAST NAME, First Name. Title. Journal, City, v. X, n. X, p. X-Y, month and year.
