Abstract

To the analyse of the theme of repression during Varga’s government (1930-1945), the political prisoners letters and those ones from theirs relatives revealed to be valorous sources to the perception of the extent and the meanings to part of the society of the repressive power used by this government to fight against his “enemies”. Through these letters, addressed to the police chief Filinto Müller specially, we perceive the power that the police achieved in this period and how the relatives of political prisoners were reached by Varga’s repressive politics, and their families were disorganized and their womem were forced the carry out other roles
besides wife, mother and housewife.

Author Biography

Janete Leiko Tanno, Paulista State University UNESP

Possui graduação em História pela Faculdade de Ciências e Letras- UNESP /Assis (1989), mestrado (1995) e doutorado (2003) pela mesma instituição. Em 2018, finalizou o pós-doutorado na Faculdade de Filosofia e Ciências- UNESP/Marília, em Ciência da Informação. Desenvolveu pesquisa de doutorado na área de cultura discutindo questões ligadas a sociabilidade e às formas de lazer em espaços urbanos entre as décadas de 1920 a 1945. No pós-doutorado pesquisou sobre os centros de documentação e o patrimônio documental como direitos que todos possuem à informação, à memória e à cidadania. Atua principalmente nos seguintes temas: governo vargas; sociabilidade, história oral, patrimônio documental e memória. Atualmente é professora adjunta da Universidade Estadual do Norte do Paraná - UENP, no curso de História.
