Author Biography

Eduardo Romero de Oliveira, Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho

Associate Professor in Cultural Heritage (Unesp, 2019), PhD in Philosophy (University of São Paulo, 2003), MA in History (University of São Paulo, 1995), BA in History (State University of Campinas, 1990). He has conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Minho (2010), University of Birmingham/ Ironbridge International Institute for Cultural Heritage (2015). He served as visiting professor Master Erasmus Mundus Techniques, Patrimoine, Territoires de l`Industrie, at Université Paris I - Pantheon Sourbonne (2019). He is currently Associate Professor at the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP), in the Graduate Program in Social History (UNESP/FCL, Assis campus) and Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism (UNESP/FAAC, Bauru campus). He acts as a member of scientific committees and as a reviewer in: Sao Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP); UK Research and Innovation; Boletim do Museu Emilio Goeldi; Anais do Museu Paulista; Revista de História (UNESP); Revista de História TST - Transportes, Servicios y Telecomunicaciones; The Journal of Transport History; Member of the Editorial Board of the journal The Historic Environment: Policy & Practice; Editor in Chef of the journal Patrimônio e Memória. Former Presidente of the Brazilian Committee for the Conservation of Industrial Heritage (2021-2024). Member of the ICOMOS Our Common Dignity Rights-based Approaches Working Group (2018 - current). Develops research on topics related to cultural heritage, transport history and memory. He has several published works on industrial heritage, railway transport history, memory and cultural tourism. In recent years she has developed research on railway industrial heritage (identification, preservation and management), with collaboration of Brazilian and foreign researchers. My recent publications include "Social valuation of protected cultural assets: the railway heritage between Jundiaí and Campinas (Brazil)" (2022), “Photographic views of railroads: recording public works in nineteenth-century Brazil” (2018); “Transport Heritage as Mankind Utopia: the moral Values in World Heritage of Transport” (Lancaster, 2017); “Convergences of the railway’s historical process and management of railway heritage (Brazil and Argentina)”, with Monica Ferrari (TICCIH-Ar) (Lile, 2015); "New studies in the History of Railway Transportation in São Paulo", in Yearbook of the International Association for the History of Transport (2014); "Railways, documentation and railway memory: a documentation assessment of São Paulo State railway companies (São Paulo, Brazil, 1868-1971)" in Patrimoine l'industrie/Industrial heritage (28, 2012), as well as chapters and books in these topics - for example, see Memória Ferroviária e a Cultura do Trabalho (2017, 2019, 2020, 2022).
