Resumo

A Guerra Civil Grega (1943-1949) foi o choque armado entre a monarquia helênica, apoiada pela Grã-Bretanha e pelos EUA, e o movimento de guerrilha liderado pelo Partido Comunista Grego (KKE). Embora o conflito tenha se encerrado oficialmente em 1949, com a derrota dos comunistas, seus efeitos reverberariam pela Grécia durante o decorrer de todo o século XX. As dificuldades de reconciliação, as batalhas pela memória, as tensões e os corriqueiros episódios de repressão e violência, promovidos e/ou encorajados por sucessivos governos autoritários, dificultaram consideravelmente o empreendimento de avaliações críticas da guerra civil dentro da própria Grécia, enquanto no exterior o debate era em grande medida influenciado pelo contexto da Guerra Fria. Pretendemos fazer um balanço dos debates historiográficos acerca da guerra civil e mostrar como as principais correntes interpretativas — tradicionalismo, revisionismo, pós-revisionismo — sofreram injunções da situação política grega a partir de 1950 e da disputa bipolar entre EUA e URSS.

Mestre em Ciências Sociais pela Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp-FFC), Marília-SP, doutorando do Programa de Pós-Graduação em História Social da Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), Niterói-RJ. Bolsista do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq).
