O BRUTALISMO E O PATRIMÔNIO CULTURAL

This article aims to problematize cultural heritage to understand the discourse on this field in Brazil. The theme is approached from the perspective of brutalism, referenced in the propositions of Achille Mbembe (2021), focused on contemporary relations with the political and the aesthetic. It is configured as a category that sees the political as the domain of each and every element that is tried to give shape, of that which is twisted and shaped by acts of demolition. In Brazil, we identify forged and vulnerable conceptions of heritage, stuck in neoliberal bureaucracy, which gives it impotence regarding the means of technologization and expansion in a transformative way. This issue is embedded in complex underground threads, incessantly producing knowledge about this field, so that there is also collective knowledge, as the appreciation of heritage occurs through its referencing. The power of cultural heritage lies precisely in the power of displacement that is inherent to it.
