Abstract

This article aims to discuss the relationship between the satirical poem “Lute Song”, by the German writer Kurt Tucholsky (1890-1935), published in the Berlin magazine Die Weltbühne in January 1920, and the periodical press. Initially elucidating key concepts of the theory of satire, the work aims to illustrate how the modes of relationship of literary satire published in periodicals transform it into a discursive form linked to its time, with a critical function to social values and norms, becoming an engaged literary discursive form (HANTSCH, 1975; SIMÕES JR., 2007; BOSI, 2000). Published at a time of broad political and social crisis in post-war Germany, the poem is an example of the interrelationship between satire and contemporary issues published in the press, knowledge of which can facilitate communication between satirist and reader and it can also allow the text to be read by the satirical bias.Sátira; Literatura alemã; Imprensa periódica; Kurt Tucholsky
